Force A Graphics Card To Recognize Different Resolutions

Force Windows to show every resolution your graphics card can display.

Windows may not recognize every display resolution that your monitor supports. This is often due to lack of proper driver support from many display manufacturers. Fortunately, there is a method to force Windows to display these resolutions.

Instructions

Windows XP

1. Click on “Start,” and then on “Run.”

2. Type “desk.cpl” without the quotes and press the “Enter” key.

3. Click on the “Settings” tab.

4. Click on the “Advanced” button.

5. Click on the “Monitor” tab.

6. Click to remove the check in the box next to “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.”

Windows will now show every resolution your graphics card can display.

Windows Vista / 7

7. Click on “Start.”

8. Click “Control Panel.”

9. Click on the “Adjust Display Resolution” link under the “Appearance and Personalization” icon

10. Click on the “Advanced Settings” link.

11. Click on the “Monitor” tab.

12. Click to remove the check in the box next to “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.”

Windows will now show every resolution your graphics card can display.
