Make 3d Wallpapers

Use 3D models to create a wallpaper image.

Wallpapers (or desktop backgrounds) make a computer screen a little less dull than it would be with a bland single color. While Windows comes with a number of premade wallpaper images that you can choose from, you might decide that you would like something more interesting, such as one filled with 3-D models. There are several ways you can go about doing this. All you will need is a 3-D graphics program that can render images and some 3-D models obtained from a site like Daz3D or Renderosity.

Instructions

Daz Studio

1. Open Daz Studio. Click on the “Render” tab and change the size of the render to match the resolution of your screen.

2. Select “File” from the menu and choose “Import.” From the options, choose the model format you want to import (Wavefront, 3DS, Lightwave). In the dialog that appears, browse to the first model you want to use and open it.

3. Use the 3D positioning and scale function to place the model where you want it in the scene. Repeat this process to bring in all the models you want on the wallpaper.

4. Click on “Render.” When the render completes, select “File” and click “Save Last Render.” Save the file as a JPEG.

5. Right-click on your desktop and choose “Properties.” In the dialog that appears, click on the “Desktop” tab. Browse to the image you saved and select it. Click “Apply” and then “OK.”
