R400 Notebook Specifications

The ThinkPad R400 is a 14-inch wide screen laptop by Lenovo. Weighing in at about five pounds, this model is considered “thin and light.” Like others in the ThinkPad R-series, the R400 is also a business-oriented laptop, but it does come with integrated graphics powerful enough to run the Aero interface for Windows Vista. With a nine-cell battery, it can run for a maximum of eight hours. The operating systems for this model are Windows Vista or XP.

ThinkPad R400 laptops come built on either an Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron processor. The Core 2 Duo processors range from 1.8 gigahertz (GHz) to 2.8-GHz in clock speed. Celeron processors in the R400 laptops are single-core and come in 2-GHz or 2.16-GHz speeds. The most high-powered R400 processor is the T9600 model with 2.8-GHz clock speed, 6-megabytes (MB) of Level 2 (L2) cache and a 1066 megahertz (MHz) bus speed.

Memory for the R400 handles up to an 8-gigabyte (GB) capacity. The memory type is Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) RAM. Speeds range up to 1,066 MHz with PC3-8500 memory, but actual memory speed depends upon the bus speed of the processor. For an R400 built on a Celeron processor, the memory speed is only 667 MHz.

The R400 is a 14.1-inch wide screen model. Depending on the screen type selected, the display uses a native resolution of either 1,280 by 800 pixels or 1,440 by 900 pixels. This model is Windows Aero compliant, so it will run all of the Windows Vista and 7 effects smoothly. Graphics are integrated, meaning that no removable video card is installed.
