The Compaq SR1010V offered choices to customize the desktop computer.

The Compaq SR1010V was a SR1000-series desktop personal computer produced by the Hewlett-Packard Corporation under the name of Compaq-Presario in 2004. The build-to-order (BTO) computer, also known as model P8657G, offered a number of standard features but allowed the user to customize the computer by providing a variety of hardware and software choices.

General Features

The Compaq SR1010V offered a number of included features such as a Micro-ATX Compaq Presario SR-series chassis that was 16 inches in height, 7.5 inches in width and 15.25 inches in depth. It included a Compaq PS/2 keyboard and scroller mouse, a 48x CD-RW drive, a number of front ports (two USB, one line-in, one headphone and one microphone) and back ports (Four USB, one PS/2 mouse, one PS/2 keyboard, one parallel, one serial and one VGA). It also offered four different drive bays: two 5.25-inch external as well as an external and internal 3.5-inch version.

Included System Features

The Compaq SR1010V included Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, an Intel Celeron 2.8 Ghz processor, an Intel i845GV chipset, a memory of 256MB, and a 40GB hard drive with either an installed ASUS (P4SD-LA PES) or HP (Giovani2-GL6) motherboard. It also offered a high-speed (V.92) data and fax modem, integrated 5.1 capable sound with front audio ports, integrated graphics, and one 10/100 Base-T Fast Ethernet interface. The installed software included Microsoft Works 7.0, Money 2004, MSN Encarta Plus, Symantec Norton Antivirus 2004, MUSICMATCH Jukebox, RealOne Player, Windows MovieMaker 2.0, Intuit Quicken New User’s Edition 2004 as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader and Photoshop Album.

Hardware Options

The Compaq SR1010V offered a variety of hardware options that included memory upgrades of 512MB with a maximum of 1GB, hard drive upgrades of 80, 120 and 160GB. In addition to the 48x CD-RW drive, it offered a 48x CD-ROM drive, a 16x DVD-ROM and an 8x DVD and CD-writer combination. Four different Microsoft 802.11g wireless options were also available that included a PCI card with 6dBi high-grain antenna, USB adapter, USB adapter and BaseStation, and the BaseStation with PCI card. Other options included the Compaq wireless keyboard and optical mouse, a choice of Compaq, JBL, Altec-Lansing and KILPSCH ProMedia speakers and a flat-panel monitor of up to 17 inches.

Software Options

The Compaq SR1010V offered a variety of software choices such as upgrades to Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition, 2003 Microsoft Office Basic or Small Business editions, Microsoft Works Suite 2004, and WordPerfect Office 11 Standard Edition. Other software options included Quickbooks Basic 2004 or Quickbooks Pro 2004, and one-year subscriptions to Norton Antivirus 2004 or Norton Internet Security 2004.
