In order to use Anti-Aliasing to its full potential, a computer with high performance is needed. A high performance system should be a computer with, at the least, a dual core processor, 1GB of system memory and a 256MB video card. These are an estimate of minimum specifications one should have. Depending on the amount of pixels per second your graphics card can handle, the frame rate of your game may decrease. If the computer in use is equipped with high performance parts, the frame rate should not be affected. With a low frame rate, graphics and the game itself can freeze up, skip or display improperly. Higher frame rates run a game smoothly, providing for better graphics.

Anti-Aliasing makes game graphics appear more realistic, as opposed to a more jagged image without it. However, the screen can also sometimes look fuzzy, which may strain a person’s vision. When Anti-Aliasing is used at its full potential, it can slow frame rates down during a game, so if your computer cannot handle anti-aliasing at a full level, it might be best to use it sparingly or decrease the level through game settings.
