One way to break into the industry is to work as a fashion assistant. However, before you can apply for a position as a fashion assistant, you need to write a cover letter that expresses your interest in the job and demonstrates to the potential employer that you’re qualified.

1. Type your name and contact information at the top of your cover letter. Your contact information should include your address, phone number and email to make it as easy as possible for the employer to contact you.

2. Type the name of the recipient of your cover letter below your information. If you’re not sure who to send it to, find out. The fashion industry is highly competitive, and you’ll have a much better chance of getting your cover letter read if it’s addressed to a specific person. Type the recipient’s title, the name of the company and the company name below her name.

3. Type the date you plan to send the cover letter below the recipient’s information.

4. Start your letter with a professional greeting directed at the person you’re sending it to, such as “Dear Ms. Jones.”

5. Express your interest in working as a fashion assistant in the first paragraph of your cover letter. Explain the specific position you’re applying for and where you heard of the job. Express your interest by stating that you’re excited at the prospect of working for the employer.

8. Type a professional closing, such as “Sincerely.” Skip a few lines, and type your name. Don’t forget to sign your name in that space after you print the cover letter.
